On behalf of the staff team and the Enquire Learning Trust, I would like to welcome you to Hardwick Green Primary Academy. I hope our website gives you a flavour of what makes Hardwick Green such a special place to learn, grow and belong.
My name is Chris Story and I have been proud to serve as Principal of Hardwick Green since April 2020. To introduce our school, I would like to begin with a quote from our most recent Ofsted inspection:
"Hardwick Green Primary Academy has care and support at the heart of all it does. Pupils enjoy coming to school each day, knowing that staff want the best for them." (Ofsted, November 2024)
This perfectly captures what we are all about. Our school is built around seven core values: Resilience, Empathy, Self-Awareness, Positivity, Excellence, Communication and Teamwork. Together, these values form our RESPECT ethos and underpin everything we do.
We are fortunate to be based in a modern, spacious building with excellent facilities, including a well-stocked library and high-quality learning environments. Our children are kind, hardworking and ambitious, while our staff are committed to helping every child achieve their very best, both academically and personally.
Although we place a strong emphasis on reading, writing and mathematics, we believe in educating the whole child. Our broad and balanced curriculum provides rich opportunities across the arts, humanities, sciences, sport and personal development. Children benefit from a wide range of memorable experiences, including instrumental music tuition, educational visits, residential experiences and participation in local and regional sporting competitions.
Inclusion is at the heart of our school. We have an experienced SEND team who work closely with families to ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive. We are also proud to host a 24-place SEND Unit for pupils with a range of additional needs. Access to places within the Unit is coordinated through Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. Alongside this, our dedicated pastoral and attendance team work closely with families to provide support whenever it is needed.
We offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities, including sports clubs, arts and crafts, film club and much more. Our free Breakfast Club, available every day from 8.00am, provides children with a nutritious breakfast and a positive start to the school day.
For many children, their Hardwick Green journey begins in our Early Years Foundation Stage. We benefit from a knowledgeable and experienced team, excellent adult-to-child ratios and high-quality learning environments that help children make the very best start to their education. We also offer places for two-year-olds in our dedicated Little Stars provision, alongside 15-hour and 30-hour nursery places for eligible families.
