Well, what a first few weeks!

I was appointed as Principal at Hardwick Green at 1pm on 16th March and 48 hours later I was sent home as part of the government’s ‘shielding’ programme as one of children is extremely vulnerable to the Coronavirus. I then had a few days to work with the staff to change us from a school to a childcare facility!

I’ve worked at school since September and I’ve never been as proud of a set of staff, children and their families as I have been in the past few weeks. Everyone has pulled together and created a safe environment in school for those who need it, and have gone above and beyond to help at home by providing work and food (and some vouchers from the ‘challenging’ FSM voucher system...).

It’s certainly not the start I was expecting or hoping for - but the most important thing is that we all stay safe and stay connected. We might not all there in person, but we are all in this together.

Take care,
